On March 19, Dunkin’ announced that its small iced regular coffees will be having a name change. For a limited time only, your small iced coffees will be now known as “The Short King” in the Dunkin’ app in honor of spring and the coffee chain’s "loyal short king fans out there." This playful rebranding aligns with the “short king spring” trend that has been circulating on TikTok since last year. This trend celebrates confidence and self-acceptance regardless of height, which Dunkin’s inclusive and fun new drink name highlights.

How to order your Short King drink this spring.

To celebrate, Dunkin’s Instagram account posted a picture of their small iced coffee with the text, “heard somewhere it was short king spring.”

There isn’t a change in how to order the drink through the app. The only change is the drink’s name, which will take place until March 26.

The coffee chain also changed the drink’s description on the app “because sometimes you don’t need a large or even a medium, you just need a Short King.”

It’s an unhinged promotion, to say the least, plus Dunkin’ fans are finding it funny and a smart way to market their iced coffee.

One user commented, “Dunkin marketing knows what they are doing every single day of the damn year.” Another said, “Dunkin give your social team a raise I’m so serious.”

Of course, there were comments under the post with some feeling validated and seen as well, and that short kings deserve the recognition.

Where did the “short king spring” trend come from?

The “short king spring” trend mainly began in TikTok last year, with the “short king” tag growing into a “short king spring” trend. It became a light-hearted movement to hype up shorter men and spread body-positivity as that can be something that many men feel insecure about.

People were tired of “short” being used as a way to insult men and, instead, wanted to spotlight shorter men who are successful in our society.
